A very simple entry-level TV is the Amazon Fire TV Omni Series. Despite having superior picture quality and functionality than the majority of budget models offered by rival brands, such as TCL and Hisense, the TV is still good all around.

Amazon Fire TV 65 Omni QLED TV Price

The picture quality on the Omni still reflects the fact that it still leans more toward the more budget-friendly than the flagship end of the range. Priced at $829.99 is the 65-inch model. It’s an enticing option for a new smart TV that won’t break the bank though because it includes all the Fire TV’s powerful features, including as hands-free Alexa voice control.

Design & built

The screen is surrounded by an almost bezel-free black border, giving it a polished appearance. Only the bottom edge features a bezel, a gunmetal strip with the Fire TV logo in the center. The stand successfully supports the TV despite its simplicity. The smaller sizes feature comparable stands, but they are finished in a glossy black.

Ports

While the connectors cannot support bandwidth over HDMI 2.0, Amazon lists the TV as supporting HDMI 2.1. It supports eARC, an HDMI 2.1 feature that uses no more bandwidth than HDMI 2.0 and is supported by the device.

  • 3x HDMI 2.0 (4K @ 60Hz)
  • 1x HDMI 2.1 (4K @ 60Hz, ARC/eARC)
  • 1x USB 2.0
  • RF connection (cable/antenna)
  • Ethernet (LAN) input
  • Digital audio output (optical)
  • 3.5mm audio jack

Display

The Omni’s maximum brightness is roughly 500 nits in both SDR and HDR. The Omni cannot get as bright as other TVs in this price range (or slightly above this price range). For instance, the 65-inch Vizio M-Series Quantum X costs around $50 more than the Omni but average HDR brightness is about twice as high. Both the TCL 6-Series and the Hisense U8H, which cost around $100 more than the Omni, easily achieve 1,000 nits in HDR.

Smart features

Compared to prior Fire TV models sold under non-Amazon brands, such as the Toshiba C350 Fire TV 2021, the TV has a little more modern Fire TV interface. Smooth and simple to use is the UI. With the UI, we discovered a small bug.

The settings menu would flash on and off when you clicked that button. An further press of the “Settings” button resolved the problem. Alexa is a capable voice assistant that can look up information, operate compatible smart home devices like the TV and the thermostat, respond to common inquiries, and show your calendar and reminders.

If you don’t want Alexa to always be listening, you can flip the switch on the underside of the TV to disable the microphone, and a small red LED will light up to indicate the mic is off.

Gaming

With the PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and this TV, only the fundamental 4k @ 60Hz formats are supported. Although it doesn’t enable sophisticated gaming capabilities, it immediately enters “Game” Mode when you launch a supported game.

Art Gallery

Some nice ambient mode features are available. Your TV becomes a work of art when you use one. The National Gallery of Art and The Art Institute of Chicago are among the places where artwork is drawn from among 1,500 photographs and works of fine art. This function is also available on Samsung “The Frame” TVs, although displaying the art costs money, unlike Amazon’s TV art gallery, which is free.

It’s a wonderful but standard function seen on other sets that you may show your own images on the TV. The news, calendars, sticky notes, reminders, and control centers for your smart home devices may all be added to widgets that you can personalize on your screen.

Audio

The Omni QLED TV also comes with built-in speakers that deliver immersive audio quality. Whether you’re watching a thrilling action movie or listening to your favorite music, the sound quality is rich and detailed, enhancing your overall viewing experience.

Remote

The controller is almost comparable to the one that came with earlier Fire TV models, such as the Toshiba C350 Fire TV 2021. It includes voice controls built in that you can use to switch inputs, open apps, or search for content, but it can’t modify TV settings. You can use the built-in microphone on the TV to control it with your voice without using your hands.

Although line of sight is not necessary because the remote communicates wirelessly to the TV, it also features an IR transmitter. You can install an additional IR emitter into a cabinet and run a long wire from there to use the TV and remote to operate other home theater components.

Great TV. Looks and works well.

Great picture and great value but a little slow to open the apps. I don’t have cable, so it’s all streaming. And wish this was a little faster opening or switching them. But the picture is great. I don’t do gaming so I don’t know how the refresh rate compares though. Having Alexa on the TV is better so I could move my Dot to my office and control all my lights and thermostat for any room. The install team was great. In and out, 3 TVs on the walls in 45 mins, only because the 65 was over the fireplace and extra care was used. Sound quality unknown. I use a Polk Soundbar and surround. So I gave it a middle rating. TV went on sale TWICE since I got it and I got the price match twice as the 2nd price was even lower. Don’t sleep on these TVs. I have an older Sharp Quad Pixel and a a Samsung and it’s just as great and easy to use.

Which is better?

The Amazon Fire TV Omni Series and the 65-inch Hisense A6G use distinct panel technologies, each with advantages and disadvantages, but most users find the Amazon to be superior overall. The Amazon TV is a little bit brighter and has much greater black uniformity and contrast. Judder from any source can be eliminated by the Amazon TV. However, even after calibration, the Hisense has considerably higher accuracy than the Amazon TV, which simply has a basic white balance calibration mechanism. Better viewing angles can be found on the Hisense. We anticipate that some A6G variations that use VA panels will perform more like the Amazon TV.

End notes

Overall, the Amazon Fire TV 65 Omni QLED is a top-notch option for those who value excellent picture quality, smart home integration, and a user-friendly interface. It’s a versatile and feature-packed TV that will enhance your entertainment experience.
