            Insignia, A Descent TV

This is my first Insignia brand TV. Even though Insignia, is Best Buy’s brand name, this is still a decent TV for what I purchased it for. I put it in the kitchen/dining area on the dinning table. So, it won’t get heavy usage like a living room or bed room TV. But still the times I have used this TV in the three weeks I have had this TV, the picture quality is great. And I have only used two of the apps on the TV which great as well. I also have a Roku hooked up to the HDMI port #1 and that hook-up works flawless as well. If you’re looking for a 32″ TV that won’t break the bank, and you don’t mind Insignia being a brand name of Best Buy, then I would recommend this TV.

Our review – Insignia 32-inch class F20 series Smart Full HD 1080p Fire TV

            Design

The F20’s display and surrounding bezels are not the tiniest I’ve ever seen, but it still feels like a well-made, contemporary TV and moves very little when placed on a table. It’s VESA 100100 standard, so if you’re inclined you could easily mount it to a wall. The quality of the polymers used in the chassis of the F20 has particularly astonished me: With little stress on the wrists or hands, it is light enough (11.2 pounds) to be held in two hands. The mount was fastened to the wall with only four screws, then it was secured with a fifth screw.

              Resolution

The 2021 F20 series was evaluated in its “Movie” picture mode. Other picture modes and backlighting configurations will result in a variation in the color and contrast values indicated below. We are just publishing results for SDR because this TV does not support HDR:

Contrast (average black level/reference brightness): 130.94/0.055 nits
83.5% coverage and 83.9% volume (sRGB coverage) for color accuracy
7476K is the average color temperature (CCT).

              Brightness

It’s a little bit brighter than the TCL 3-Series, which is about the same price, but it also doesn’t get quite as dark when it comes to the shadows. Shadow quality can occasionally become too bright when there is no backlight dimming, however this is only something you would likely notice in a completely dark viewing environment.

              Audio

The Insignia set features a number of sound modes, including settings for music, movies, and dialogue enhancement. It also supports the DTS TruSurround and Dolby Audio formats. On the set, you may also change the treble, bass, and balance. The 32-inch Insignia’s sound, regardless of the source content, tends to be fairly concentrated with little surround sound impact, perhaps in part because it is a very small TV.

              Remote

The Insignia set comes with a candy bar-sized remote control that prominently features an Alexa microphone button. Should you decide against using Alexa, there is also a round, 4-way navigation pad with buttons for menu, home, and back.

Although there is no numerical keypad, the volume and channel controls have distinct up/down buttons. Of course, there are also options just for Netflix and Amazon’s Prime Video.

              Setup

Simple assembly involves attaching two widely spaced, V-shaped feet to the bottom of the panel. But the setup is finished, everything goes relatively smoothly. Pulling up websites like Netflix and YouTube takes no time at all. The navigating circle on the remote is gratifyingly clicky and moves swiftly through the Fire TV options.
